Feather Sensors is an early-stage company focused on the development of new methodologies and instrumentation for pulmonary medical applications. Its core technology, the FeatherTone™ sensor, has been incorporated into devices that measure lung function, such as a spirometers and oscillatory instrumentation. Our devices provide critical data for evaluation of patients with asthma and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) with comparable accuracy, lower maintenance requirements, and lower cost than pneumotach-based devices currently in use. Feather Sensors devices are also able to detect lung sounds important for diagnosis, such as wheezing.
Feather Sensors development is focused on devices designed for use in the home environment. Our vision is to produce low-cost, easy-to-use devices that will enable people with asthma and COPD to take lung measurements at home and to transmit results electronically to physicians and other medical providers. This will enable such patients to manage their disease actively, similar to the way patients with diabetes manage their condition through blood glucose monitoring.
